Response to parliamentary committees
List of committee reports:
- The Government Response to the Seventeenth Report by the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, titled Regional Relief and Recovery Fund, was tabled on October 17, 2022. The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), along with the other regional development agencies (RDAs), responded to committee recommendations concerning the five COVID-19 recovery programs announced in Budget 2021 (the Programs)Footnote 1
with a progress report. A final report was provided on May 31, 2023, on the four recommendations regarding:
- the inclusion of under-represented groups
- improved coordination, fairness and transparency in delivering the recovery programs
- the steps taken to ensure that program results reporting is harmonized and accurate
- the information on recipient ineligibility, repayments and default rates. A follow-up report on default rates was filed on June 28, 2024, and additional follow-up reports are due on December 20, 2024, June 30, 2025, and December 31, 2025
- The Government Response to the Fourteenth Report by the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, titled Protecting Canada’s Food System, was tabled on September 15, 2022. Follow-up information was requested on June 13, 2023, and a response was provided by ACOA with input from the other RDAs on December 19, 2023. The additional information was regarding progress on the implementation of a grants and contributions system based on a common platform. Five of the RDAs have implemented the platform, while two are still assessing it.
Response to audits conducted by the Office of the Auditor General of Canada (including audits conducted by the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development)
There were no recommendations for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
